I’ve been watching how folk find their way into Theatre Village. Someone arrives to read about a show, spots a performer’s name and thinks, “Hang on, who’s that?” Next thing, they’re off looking for more. I know the feeling. I’ve gone to see a production knowing nowt about the cast and come home wanting to know everything about one particular performer.
So we’re making a place for those stories. Theatre Village will soon be launching actor profiles, with names in our articles linking through to a page where you can learn more about the person behind the role.
Where we have the details, we’ll feature a headshot, a bit about their background and the work they’ve done. We’ll bring together our articles about them, too. And if I can persuade them to sit down for a chat, there might be an interview. I promise to ask better questions than “How do you remember all those lines?”
We’ll add profiles as we gather the information, so they won’t all be filled out at once. If you’re a performer who’d like to be included, get in touch through our contact page. Send us your biography, credits and a headshot you have permission to share, and let us know if you’d be up for an interview.
And to the agents reading: if you have a client you’d like us to feature, do get in touch. Send over their details and a headshot cleared for use, and tell us what they’re working on. I’m happy to hear from the person holding the diary as well as the person treading the boards.
A name in a cast announcement can be the start of something. You might follow an actor from their first professional role to the next show, then realise you’ve seen them three times without meaning to. I’d like Theatre Village to help you make those connections.
That’s what a village does, isn’t it? You get to know the people in it. I’ll put the kettle on; you bring your story.
