The sky’s the limit for young dreamers this festive season as Lanternhouse, Cumbernauld present acclaimed theatre company Visible Fictions production, A Ladder to the Stars.
First created in 2014 in collaboration with Aberdeen Performing Arts (APA), A Ladder to the Stars is based on the charming children’s book of the same name by Simon Puttock. Since its’ conception this magical show has toured to sell out audiences across Scotland, Singapore and Malta.
This has been made especially for a young audience aged three to seven years, their parents and carers, this magical story tells the tale of a little girl’s hopes and dreams as she makes a wish on her birthday.
Way up in the deep blue night sky, a twinkling star hears the little girl’s birthday wish and sets about making her dream come true. The star’s plan takes a lifetime to come true but on her 107th birthday the little girl, now an old woman, realises her dream and finally dances with the stars.
Brought to the stage through a magical mix of music, light and imagination, A Ladder to the Stars is a heartfelt and humorous story of what can happen when the universe hears your dreams.
Douglas Irvine, Director, said: “Simon Puttock’s original story is a gift to work on and I am looking forward to bringing the magic alive on stage. Creating work for such a young audience fills the process with possibility as a young imagination can take you anywhere!”
