P&O Cruises Put On Amazing Spectacles

I was fortunate enough recently to watch some shows on board the P&O cruises Iona ship. I really wanted to see as many shows as possible. All of the shows are produced by their headliners theatre company.

First up was Festival, it was a story about young people attending a festival. The songs were modern but the acting and singing were really good. The performers provided energy  and spectacle with believable characters. Unfortunately no names were provided of the performers. The story was minimal interspersed with well known songs, it certainly was lively and was a good show overall.

I managed to watch Triboo performed in the skydome, it focused on a battle between the moon and the sun, in a gladiatorial combat battle. The use of aerial movement, juggling and dance brought the show to life. The performers in this show were excellent and it was nice to see rehearsals in the skydome during the day. The performers were trained professionals and performed their routines effortlessly.

Third up I saw Digital, which reminded me of the robot from Snog, Marry, Avoid. The show centered on Ted and Eliza, it was skillfully brought together and was excellent in terms of its songs and production. A range of music was featured and reminded me of living in the 1980s.

The only show I did not enjoy was Greatest Days, focused on Take That’s music. I saw the later show and I imagine the performers were slightly more tired than earlier shows. The performance energy was good in places but lacking in others. I saw however many positive reviews and if I saw this show at a different time, I think it would have been better.

All together, the performers were amazing, performing an incredible 3 shows a day must be tiring, but they all did it with professionalism and energy. I so hope I can these shows again in the future. The lighting and scenery in each of the shows was up to high standards.
