Review Of Thursford Christmas Spectacular

I heard of Thursford Christmas Spectacular so that was a good thing, word must have spread my way, this was a good show.

I had been meaning to go last year but didn’t, this year I made the promise to myself to go.

Thursford Christmas Spectacular is not easy to get to, if you don’t drive. So organised coach trip it would have to be.

I was very impressed with the actual location, I had passed a farmers shed earlier in the journey and had for a fleeting moment thought it was taking place there.  Alas the grounds themselves are a magic spectacle and the little shops selling gifts and food added to the festive atmosphere.

Inside the actual auditorium the magical festive displays were a feast to the senses, I felt the festive spirit.

The production was on a large stage ( 130 foot I believe) and featured musicians, dancers, signers and specialty acts.

I could pinpoint when the performers enjoyed a certain set more, not that the other sets were not good but there were some outstanding ones within the show.

The first sequence was spectacular in terms of costumes for the dancers but because it was such a highlight, I’d personally would find it better later in the show.

The speciality acts were certainly impressive, with Sven and Jan Rauhe as skaters certainly tantalising the audience with their energetic act.  Danny Butler with his act as Extreme biker certainly had the audience on their edge of their seats.

The compere and comedian was Lloyd Hollett, the comedy wordsmith and certainly the majority of jokes were funny, but overall within the show maybe a little too much of him.

The production lighting was superb and it was a very festive show. The backstage crew certainly worked very hard and some quick scenery changes at times.

I always try to give a shout out to notable performers, but the whole cast should be very proud of the energy they gave and the festive spirit they managed to portray. I watched a lot of the performers’ facial expressions and acting and they were very good and inline to what the scene or song was portraying.

Due to the size of the cast and the position I was sitting in, it did mean I missed a few performer’s performances.  However I would like to give notable shout outs to the following performers:

Singers

Lily Allen-Dodd, superb performance from this talented performer. Valeria Perboni, excellent singing voice and performer. I fell in love with Phoebe Mansell, a voice of an angel, her solo was amazing, Olivia Kustermans, another great performer, amazing vocals. Matthew McConnell, excellent acting and singing. John Derekson, excellent soloist piece. Sam Saunders, a great all around performer.

Dancers

The dancers were also amazing and provided so much energy, standout performances for me though are: Izzy Parker, superb performance and a delight. Laura Ellis performed confidently in her role. Vieolette Guede who performed brilliantly and also Tegan Kyrie, a great performance.

Orchestra- they all were superb and ultimate professionals.

Would I recommend this show? Yes, a definite Yes! Go see it, its on for a limited run.
