There’s a change of personnel at Runway magazine. Thankfully, it’s happening onstage at the Dominion Theatre, so I can enjoy the drama without anyone asking me to find a missing parcel for Miranda Priestly.
The Devil Wears Prada The Musical has announced its new company, with Teri Hatcher set to play Miranda alongside Matt Henry as Nigel. Two performers already familiar with the show are stepping into new roles: Jenna Bonner moves from first cover to play Andy Sachs, while Dean Makowski-Clayton swaps Irv Ravitz for Andy’s boyfriend, Nate.
I like seeing a promotion from within. At my office, a promotion usually means somebody trusts you with the key to the stationery cupboard.
Taila Halford continues as Emily, Miranda’s first assistant, and Dominic Andersen remains Christian. Debbie Kurup is playing Miranda during the cast changeover, before Teri Hatcher takes over on 20 October 2026. Kurup will continue as first standby for the role.
Fashion that deserves its own curtain call
Costume designer Gregg Barnes has filled the show with hundreds of handmade pieces, alongside vintage and second-hand finds and labels including Dior, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Balmain. Terry de Havilland has supplied more than 80 pairs of shoes.
Miranda and Andy each have 11 costume changes during a performance. I once changed my scarf halfway through a shift and everyone thought I had an interview.
There’s an astonishing amount happening behind the scenes, too: the Deputy Stage Manager calls a cue roughly every six seconds, and the curtain call uses 680 grams of confetti each night. If that happened at my office, we’d still be finding bits in the postbags next Easter.
The production reached its 800th performance on 23 September 2026. It features music by Elton John, lyrics by Shaina Taub and Mark Sonnenblick, and a book by Kate Wetherhead, with direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell.
What happens when Andy gets the job?
Andy Sachs arrives at Runway hoping to build a career in journalism. Instead, she finds herself working for fashion’s most demanding editor-in-chief. The glamour draws her in, but Miranda’s expectations begin to crowd out the rest of Andy’s life.
I can see why Andy wants to prove herself. I’d also like someone to tell her that having an evening off is allowed. Preferably someone Miranda can’t sack.
The newly announced ensemble is Jak Allen-Anderson, Georgia Aspinall, Anta Bah, Evonnee Bentley-Holder, Teagan Denham, Russell Dickson, Eve Drysdale, Selina Hamilton, Helen Hill, Kimberley Hoyle, Emma Johnson, Justin-Lee Jones, Mark Lamb, Ethan Le Phong, Zixi Li, Shannon Molloy, Jacob Morrish, Nay-Nay, Eddylia Osborne, David Peter Brown, Theo UK Rose, João Silva, Ellie Stevens, Maisy Stones, Kayleigh Thadani, Hannah Victoria-Bennett and Alex Woodward.
The Devil Wears Prada The Musical is booking at the Dominion Theatre, London, until 25 September 2027. Evening performances are scheduled Monday to Saturday at 7.30pm, with Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 2.30pm. Tickets are advertised from £25; check the official website for current prices and cast details.
I’m looking forward to seeing how the new team settles in. I’ll leave the high fashion to them, though.
