Theatre Village to Launch New Award for The Best Edinburgh Fringe Show Seen

Well, darlings, the dust has just about settled and I can finally share some exciting gossip from HQ (by which I mean Andrew’s place), Theatre Village will be launching its very own award for the best show seen at the Fringe – as decided by none other than the godfather of Theatre Village himself, Andrew.

Now, here’s the thing. This isn’t some big corporate award with a panel of judges, champagne sponsors, and flashy PR people. Oh no. This is pure, grassroots, funded-straight-from-Andrew’s-wallet magic. No ad revenue. No team. Just one man, a laptop, and a stubborn love for theatre. The trophy? Bought by Andrew himself. And the prize? Not just the shiny bit of metal – your show will be displayed permanently (well, almost) on a dedicated Theatre Village page from 1 September 2025 right through to 31 July 2026.

Thinking to yourself, “But Grace, I only got 3 stars from you – I’ve got no chance”? Rubbish. Andrew’s not just looking at the stars – he’s judging on concept, originality, and performance. In other words, the whole glorious package.

And here’s where it gets interesting – if Andrew didn’t catch your show at the Fringe, you can still be in the running. Just send a link to a video of your performance, and if it tickles his fancy, it might get reviewed… and who knows? You could be adding “Award-Winning” to your poster.

Now, you’re probably wondering, “What’s the award going to be called?” Best in Show? No – sounds like Crufts. Village Diva? Tempting, but no. Let’s be honest – it’s got to be named after me. So I give you… The Satchel of Stars Award. Why? Because I’m a postie with the mostie, and my satchel is stuffed to bursting with stars.

Award winner will be decided after Fringe and winner announced 1st September 2025. If I have seen your show, you do not need to do anything, you are automatically entered

— Grace Hatchell your friendly fictious postie.
