What’s in Grace’s Satchel?
Maybe I Should Stop – a darkly funny road trip that starts with a tub of Celebrations… and ends who knows where!
Drayton Arms Theatre, 153 Old Brompton Road, London SW5 0LJ
Press Night: Thursday 20th November 2025 at 7pm
You’ve heard of borrowing your dad’s car, but what about his ashes? That’s exactly what Aaron’s done in Maybe I Should Stop, the dark comedy written by Oscar Brudenall-Jones and directed by Esalan Gates.
Aaron’s an out-of-work entertainer with a stolen tub of ashes (hidden in a Celebrations box, minus the Bounties), and a road trip to Cornwall that’s about to go wildly off-course. With no money, no plan, and the police in hot pursuit, it’s a messy, moving ride through grief, guilt and gallows humour.
Following two sell-out runs at the Lion & Unicorn Theatre, Maybe I Should Stop is now taking its UK tour to the Drayton Arms Theatre for a two-week run this November.
Under Gates’s direction (a BroadwayWorld UK nominee for Best New Production), this To The Tooth Theatre show is comedy with a bite – exploring grief in a post-pandemic world, sperm bank strikes, and why losing your rag at an old person might not be the best idea. It’s dark, funny, and unexpectedly healing – though not always in the way you’d think
Supported by Arts Council England and the National Lottery, Maybe I Should Stop is one of those shows that sneaks up on you – hilarious one minute, heartbreakingly human the next.

Grace’s verdict: pack tissues and a Twix – this one’s sweet, salty and surprisingly profound.
