đź’Ą STUNTMAN: Explosive Moves, Tender Truths & a Whole Lotta Action đź’Ą
Alright my loves, hold onto your popcorn – this one’s a banger. Word on the street (and from the second act sorting desk at Theatre Village) is that award-winning Scottish outfit SUPERFAN are taking their Fringe smash Stuntman on a full-blown UK tour, and let me tell you, this one ain’t your average punch-up.
It’s high-octane, it’s heartfelt, and it’s got more emotional depth than Bruce Willis crawling through air vents.
This show is part dance, part theatre, part circus – and ALL action. Think slow-mo smackdowns, John Wick-style sequences, and Die Hard energy – but instead of muscle-flexing machismo, it’s a proper deep dive into masculinity, violence, and what it means to be a man these days (hint: it’s not all fists and fury).
You’ve got two knockout performers, David Banks (aka Fox) and Sadiq Ali, throwing themselves – literally – into a duet that flips stunt culture on its head. It’s based on their real-life experiences with aggression, identity, and those messy little things we don’t often talk about. It’s funny, it’s moving, and at times it’s a little bit brutal (in a good way).
And guess what? They’re not just playing to the usual arty-farty crowd either. Stuntman is even stopping off at HMP YOI Polmont, Scotland’s largest Young Offenders Institution. Now that’s taking theatre where it matters.
Expect big bangs, backflips, and bold questions. The design is giving blockbuster realness (shoutout to Rachel O’Neill on set, Richy Carey on sound, and Michaella Fee on lights – it’s basically a full-on movie in motion). Director Pete Lannon says the themes are only getting more urgent, and Grace says… well, I agree.
SUPERFAN aren’t just putting on a show – they’re cracking open conversations. If you’ve ever watched a Hollywood action flick and wondered what all those heroic headbutts are really teaching us, this one’s for you.
📍 Touring now across the UK.
📍 See it. Feel it. Flinch a little. Cry a bit. Applaud a lot.
📍 And maybe… rethink who your heroes really are.
Catch you in the front row – I’ll be the one ducking the imaginary punches.
