From The Heart – Don Black’s All-Star West End Premiere
This autumn, Oscar and multi-award-winning lyricist Don Black CBE brings his lifelong love of cabaret to the West End with From The Heart, a brand-new revue set to light up the Fortune Theatre. Performances run on Sunday 26 October and Sunday 2 November 2025, with an additional matinee on 2 November now added due to popular demand.
Directed by Nick Winston (Bonnie & Clyde, Calamity Jane) with musical direction and arrangements by Nick Barstow (Starter for Ten), From The Heart promises to be a moving celebration of song, story, and the cabaret tradition that has inspired Don Black for decades.
The latest casting announcement reveals a dazzling line-up of performers, including:
- Sydnie Christmas, winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2024 (101 Dalmatians)
- Preeya Kalidas (Bombay Dreams)
- Caroline O’Connor (Mack & Mabel)
- Olivier Award-winner David Thaxton (Sunset Boulevard, West End and Broadway)
- Olivier Award-winner Clive Rowe (Guys & Dolls)
Together, they will bring Black’s work to life in a revue that blends some of his most iconic collaborations with heartfelt cabaret gems.
With a career spanning over 50 years, Don Black is recognised as one of the world’s foremost lyricists. His credits include musical theatre landmarks such as Sunset Boulevard and Aspects of Love, timeless film songs including Born Free and Diamonds Are Forever, and five James Bond themes. From The Heart draws on this extraordinary legacy while paying tribute to the intimacy and emotional power of cabaret — or as Don himself notes, “no great cabaret song leaves anyone untouched.”
Expect music from an array of Black’s celebrated collaborators, including Gary Barlow, Natasha Bedingfield, David Arnold, Alan Menken, and Mike Batt. With such an extraordinary creative team and cast, this premiere looks set to be a highlight of the 2025 theatre calendar.
