There are some deliveries that make me beam from ear to ear — and today’s is one of them. Straight from Birmingham Rep’s post room (and my satchel, of course), comes Rep Together — a heartfelt new campaign that’s about to make thousands of young Brummies fall in love with theatre for the very first time.
Running from Thursday 23 to Monday 27 October, Rep Together is a bold fundraising drive to help raise money for 5,000 £5 tickets for young people under 25 and state schools, giving them the chance to see A Midsummer Night’s Dream — The Rep’s spring 2026 production, and the debut season of its new Artistic Director, Joe Murphy.
Murphy puts it perfectly:
“Theatre should be for everyone. With Rep Together, we’re throwing open the doors to young people who may never have seen Shakespeare on stage before — or even been to the theatre. We want them to feel like this place is theirs, that these stories belong to them.”
And he’s absolutely right. Theatre isn’t just about velvet seats and spotlights — it’s about connection, curiosity, and community. It teaches empathy, sparks imagination, and reminds us that our voices, stories, and dreams all have a place in the world. When a young person sees a story unfold live in front of them — laughter echoing, hearts racing — something magical happens. They see possibility. They see themselves.
That’s why Rep Together matters. It’s not just a fundraiser — it’s an invitation. An open door to the world of creativity, courage, and shared experience.
So, if you’ve ever been moved by a performance or believe in the power of stories to change lives, you can make a difference too. Donations are open now at birmingham-rep.co.uk/support-us/rep-together.
From one dreamer to another — let’s keep the curtain up for everyone.
