Step aside, Saturday night telly—Cilla’s back in the spotlight! Nearly a decade after her passing, the nation’s favourite redhead is still spreading smiles. This time, it’s through a glittering charity auction where fans can literally take home a piece of her wardrobe.
On Friday 28th November (1–4pm), Nesbits Auctions Ltd will host a special sale of 246 of Cilla Black’s most iconic dresses and outfits, with every penny going to Variety, the Children’s Charity. It’s a love letter to a woman who could charm a nation before the opening credits had even rolled.
From the swinging sixties to her prime-time reign on Blind Date and Surprise Surprise, Cilla’s wardrobe was pure showbiz magic. Think mod-era minis, power blazers with shoulder pads you could land a plane on, and gowns that shimmered brighter than the studio lights. Every frock tells a story—of songs sung, laughter shared, and that unmistakable Scouse sparkle.
Cilla’s son Robert Willis says it best:
“Almost every item in this collection was either worn on stage or appeared on TV. Ten years after Mum’s passing, we felt the right thing to do was to donate the collection to Variety—a charity she loved and supported during her life. We hope the public can share in her joy and help children in need.”
It’s a touching tribute from a family honouring not just her glamour, but her generosity.

And according to Laurence Guinness, Chief Executive of Variety:
“Cilla understood the power of helping young people reach their potential. Each piece of her collection represents a moment in British entertainment history—and now, each sale will help create new stories for children who need it most.”
So, if you’ve ever dreamt of owning something worn by the queen of Saturday nights—whether it’s a chiffon gown worthy of Surprise Surprise or a sparkling mini that once wowed the West End crowd—this is your moment to say “ta-ra, chuck” to ordinary auctions.
Online viewing opens on 28th October, so polish your bidding paddles and get ready to give a little love… and a lot of good.
