Can’t Decide What Theatre Show to See? Let Grace’s Random Theatre Picker Choose For You
Struggling to decide what theatre show to see? Grace Hatchell has created a cheeky random theatre picker featuring Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Mamma Mia, Moulin Rouge and more. Let fate choose your next night out.
🎭 What Show Should You See?
Let fate choose your theatre night.
Well hello there, theatre wanderers. Grace here, sat on the steps outside the stage door with my satchel, a half-eaten packet of crisps, and a very serious problem.
Not the sort of problem involving lost post or missing tickets. No no. Something far more dramatic.
Too many shows.
You see it all the time. Someone stands outside a theatre box office looking like they’ve just been handed the world’s most confusing menu.
“Should we see Phantom?”
“What about Wicked?”
“Maybe Mamma Mia?”
“Oh wait, there’s Moulin Rouge…”
By the time they’ve decided, the interval bell has rung somewhere and the poor souls are still standing there like confused pigeons.
So I’ve come up with a solution.
A little theatre gadget. A cheeky decision maker. A digital spinning hat, if you will.
You press the button… and fate chooses your show.
Now before you panic, I’ve made sure the choices are properly theatrical. No dull evenings here.
The selector might send you to see the mysterious masked legend of Phantom of the Opera, where chandeliers behave suspiciously and everyone sings like their life depends on it.
Or perhaps the green-tinged magic of Wicked, where witches fly, friendships form, and gravity becomes more of a suggestion than a rule.
Feeling adventurous? The picker might command you to Go To Your Local Theatre, which is Grace-speak for supporting the brilliant venues up and down the country that quietly produce the most surprising nights out.
Then again, you could be whisked away into family joy with Paddington The Musical, because if there’s one bear I trust to run a theatre production, it’s the one who travels with marmalade sandwiches.
Disney fans may find themselves marching straight into the savannah for The Lion King, where puppetry, music, and sheer theatrical wizardry turn the stage into something close to magic.
The decision maker also knows its classics. You might land on Mary Poppins, floating into a world where umbrellas are transport and life is just that little bit more supercalifragilistic.
Or perhaps something a bit more glittery. The dial might land on Burlesque The Musical, where the stage lights sparkle and confidence is served with a wink.
For those who love a good pink-powered underdog story, there’s Legally Blonde, proving that determination, charm, and a fabulous outfit can conquer absolutely anything.
And of course, there’s the ever-joyful island energy of Mamma Mia, where the sun shines, the music is ABBA-solutely unavoidable, and audiences leave grinning.
But theatre lovers with a taste for the epic might find themselves heading into the emotional storm of Les Misérables, where barricades rise, hearts break, and the songs stick with you forever.
If glamour and sequins are more your style, the picker may fling you straight into Moulin Rouge, a whirl of music, romance, and velvet-draped decadence.
Then there’s the delightfully rowdy Choir of Man, which feels less like a show and more like the world’s best night down the pub with incredibly talented singers.
The time-travel fans might hear the selector shout Back to the Future, where DeLoreans roar onto stage and the audience collectively forgets what year it is.
And finally, if you fancy something elegant, dramatic, and occasionally involving people doing impossible things with their legs, the picker might simply declare:
The Ballet!
No fuss. Just beautiful music, graceful movement, and a reminder that storytelling doesn’t always need words.
So if you’re stuck wondering what to see next, just let the little theatre oracle decide.
Give the button a press. Trust the drama gods. Follow the result.
And if it tells you to see Phantom… well, I’d recommend keeping an eye on the chandelier.
Just in case.
Right then, I’d better dash. There’s a rumour in my satchel about a rehearsal involving a flying carpet and a very confused stage manager.
Theatre never sleeps, you know.
