The Revlon Girl returns to Park Theatre in Finsbury Park from 26 October to 14 November, bringing Neil Anthony Docking’s play about grief, friendship and the women of Aberfan back to the venue where it first appeared.
Set in the aftermath of the Aberfan disaster, the play follows a group of mothers who meet above the Aberfan Hotel every Tuesday evening. It is a place where they can speak freely, cry and, when laughter comes, allow themselves that too. One evening, they secretly invite a representative from Revlon to give them beauty tips.
On paper, that invitation might seem an unlikely part of a story about loss. But the play gives the women space to be more than their grief. Their gathering is about companionship, and about finding moments that belong to them at a time when so much has been taken away.
I’m always drawn to theatre that pays attention to the people beyond the event we know from history. Aberfan must be approached with care, and the strength of this story lies in its focus on the mothers: how they speak to one another, support one another and find their way through an ordinary Tuesday evening under extraordinary circumstances.
Maxine Evans returns to direct. Speaking about revisiting the play, she said: “Every single time we’ve performed this play, we’ve found something new.” It has travelled widely since its first performances in 2016, including a run at the Edinburgh Festival and a previous sold-out London run. It won the OffWestEnd award for Best New Play and received an Olivier Award nomination.
The cast for this return is Antonia Kinlay as the Revlon representative, alongside Mirain Haf Roberts as Rona, Llinos Daniel as Jean, Hedydd Dylan as Maralyn and Charlotte Gray as Sian.y
With Hedydd Dylan who plays Maralyn in The Revlon Girl. Her stage credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Headlong and The Comedy of Errors with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
The Revlon Girl is produced by Nearside Productions Ltd in association with Park Theatre. It runs from 26 October to 14 November 2026, with evening performances at 7pm and matinees at 3.15pm. The running time is 90 minutes, the age recommendation is 16+, and tickets start at £20.
