Friends of the King’s Head Theatre Pub came together on Sunday night to bid a fond farewell to the venue with an exclusive one night only show entitled ‘The Curtain Call’ featuring stars from the pub theatre’s history such as Linda Marlowe, Dame Janet Suzman, Steven Berkoff and Mark Gatiss (director of The Way Old Friends Do opening at the Criterion this week). The evening was hosted by David Cumming, co-creator of Operation Mincemeat in the West End, and the most recent Guest Artistic Director of the King’s Head (Queer Futures season, as part of The Takeover).

The King’s Head Theatre Pub boasts an incredible list of alumni, many of whom had their first break into Theatre there. Names include Richard E Grant (who sent a video message for the event), Hugh Grant, Joanna Lumley, Sam West, and Alan Rickman.

Guests at the event included Doctor Who companion Katie Manning, West End theatre owner and producer Nica Burns, and writer and performer David Benson

After many years of planning, The King’s Head Theatre wil move into their purpose-built, fully accessible new theatre opening in early 2024. Until then Theatre Village has to wait patiently to visit.
