Production images have been released for the UK and Ireland tour of Waitress, the smash-hit romantic musical comedy that’s currently making its way around the country until 31 October 2026 — and it’s looking just as warm, messy, and quietly emotional as ever.
Now, if you’ve been keeping an eye on this one (and I have — I’m only human), you’ll spot a very familiar face behind the counter. Carrie Hope Fletcher is leading the way as Jenna, joined by Sandra Marvin as Becky and Evelyn Hoskins as Dawn — a trio that already feels like it knows exactly how to balance heart, humour, and the occasional “what am I doing with my life?” moment.
Elsewhere in the kitchen, you’ve got Les Dennis as Old Joe (yes, really — and I’m strangely excited about that), Dan Partridge as Dr Pomatter, Mark Anderson as Ogie, Mark Willshire as Earl, and Dan O’Brien as Cal. It’s one of those casts where you can already imagine the chemistry before anyone’s even opened their mouth.
Though — and I’ll say this gently — if you’re planning a visit, you might want to keep an eye on the calendar. Carrie Hope Fletcher and Sandra Marvin will be taking their final bows on 22 August 2026, with new casting for Jenna and Becky set to be announced for the rest of the tour. A little changing of the guard, perhaps… or just another layer to the story.
For those who somehow haven’t crossed paths with Waitress yet (where have you been hiding?), the show is based on the 2007 film by Adrienne Shelly, with music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles — which, frankly, explains why half the songs end up living in your head rent-free.
It first opened on Broadway back in April 2016, before making its West End debut at the Adelphi Theatre in March 2019, and has since travelled the world — from North America to Japan, Canada, Mexico, and now continuing its journey with this UK and Ireland tour. And if that wasn’t enough, it’s heading to Australia in 2026 as well… which is quite the commute, even for a pie.
Ten years on, and it’s still going. Which tells you something.
There’s something about Waitress that sticks — maybe it’s the music, maybe it’s the story, maybe it’s the fact that it doesn’t pretend life is neat and tidy when it really isn’t. It’s messy, complicated, hopeful… a bit like the best kind of baking, really.
And now, with these new production images doing the rounds, it feels like a little reminder that this one still has plenty left to serve.
Now then… if you don’t mind me, I’ve got a few “samples” from that satchel to lay out on the counter…
