Glossy Pain proudly brings their acclaimed one-woman show, “Lie With Me,” to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year. This thought-provoking performance delves into the quest for an ‘authentic’ female desire, free from the constraints of the male gaze. The protagonist explores themes of saints, witches, relationship structures, and the nature of performance itself. Originally produced for TD Berlin, the show has already garnered attention at several festivals and guest performances across Germany.
“Lie With Me” will be playing from August 12th to 24th (excluding the 18th) at 12:15 pm at C Venues, C Alto Stage.
Glossy Pain, a female-led international collective from Berlin, has been making waves in the German theatre scene since their debut in 2021. Recognized as one of the most exciting newcomers, they were featured on the cover of Deutsche Bühne magazine in October 2023. The collective comprises established theatre makers from prestigious institutions such as Maxim Gorki, Schaubühne, Volksbühne, Theater an der Ruhr, Théâtre du Trident, and Carrefour International De Théâtre. Glossy Pain is celebrated for their innovative production values and their commitment to working with ‘pleasure,’ free from oppressive structures. Their shows have been invited to notable festivals, including Fast Forward in Dresden, Britney X in Cologne, and Radikal Jung in Munich.
