Postie Grace here, and I’ve just pulled a squeaky-clean letter out me satchel that’s positively snorting with excitement. The Unicorn Theatre has unveiled the full cast and creative team for Stiles and Drewe’s The Three Little Pigs, and let me tell you, it’s going to be one ham-dinger of a show!
This joyful musical – full of toe-tapping songs and giggles galore – follows superstar piglets Bar, Bee and Q as they trot off into the big wide world, only to bump snout-first into the Big Bad Wolf. (Don’t worry kids – he’s more huff and puff than horror!) It’s tailor-made for the littlest theatre fans, ages 3 to 7, but I’ll bet the mums, dads, grans and even your Uncle Barry will be squealing along too.
The cast is a real feast:
- Sam Mellows brings the bacon as Bar.
- Iona Crampton (yes, she of Peppa Pig fame!) stars as Bee.
- Joe Thompson-Oubari (Wicked alumni!) is our Q.
- Paula James is the ever-loving Mother Pig.
- Jack Wilkinson sharpens his teeth as the Big Bad Wolf.
- And Luke Beaumont keeps the show on its trotters as Off Stage Swing.
Behind the sty, we’ve got Olivier-winning duo Stiles and Drewe on the tunes (they gave us Mary Poppins and Honk!, so the piggy pedigree is strong), and Jade Lewis at the helm – Stratford East’s Associate Artistic Director, no less. Plus, a creative team stacked with award-winners in design, choreography, sound and lights.
Dates for your diary:
- Unicorn Theatre, 27 September – 2 November
- Minerva Theatre, Chichester, 6 – 28 December
So get those trotters tapping and grab your tickets – this one’s going to be oink-credible. And remember, Village readers: when it comes to theatre magic, it’s not just about huffin’ and puffin’, it’s about blowing the roof clean off with joy.
Grace x
