What’s That in Grace’s Satchel? Oh, Just an EP from the Fiercest Show on Court…
Now then, darlings, pop your bibs on and lace up those trainers, because Lady Macbeth Played Wing Defence isn’t just serving blood, betrayal and biceps on stage — they have just dropped an EP ahead of their Edinburgh Fringe run, and it’s as fierce as a GS in a grudge match.
Fresh from absolutely smashing it down under (sold out before they even packed their boots for Adelaide – I ask you!), the gals from Crash Theatre Company are back with a musical teaser that’ll leave you begging for quarter-time. This EP is your whistle-blow warning that the court-side carnage is coming — and it’s dressed in tartan with attitude.

Let me set the scene: our star player Mac Beth’s got her eye on that captain’s armband, but when Coach Duncan passes the glory to golden girl Chloe Macduff, well… let’s just say it’s less “team spirit” and more “death stare at the drinks fountain.”
The EP kicks off with Pick Your Player — think Macbeth prophecy meets the kind of synth-pop banger that makes your elbow twitch like a wing defence with something to prove. Enter the Dunsinane Hell-Hounds: they’re not here to make friends, they’re here to win.
And just when you think it couldn’t get juicier, along strut The Dagger Divas with Thunder, Lightning, Rain — a spellbinding girl group anthem that takes the Bard’s witches and gives them a dark glittery makeover. Eye of newt meets glitter gel pen, and honestly? Obsessed.
But don’t relax at half-time. Oh no. Trap a Rat sees Macduff return with claws unfiled and vengeance in her eyes — it’s jungle beat meets jungle gym, and if you think she’s letting her court defeat slide… you’ve clearly never crossed a popular girl with something to prove.
Georgie Black, the fabulous founder of House of Oz, summed it up best: “Netball, Shakespeare and girl power? That title alone had me shouting ‘take my purse!’” And fair play, House of Oz handed Lady Macbeth Played Wing Defence their 2025 Purse Prize faster than you can shout “I wash’d my hands with club soda!”
The EP is out now, so get it in your ears before the final whistle. And if you’re heading to Edinburgh, get your tickets yesterday. This one’s going to be a knockout.
