In her brand new stand-up show, Louise Atkinson (Winner of Amused Moose Comedy Award for Best Debut Show 2023), revisits a piece of unsolicited feedback about her appearance from someone in the comedy industry who reported that she ‘Sounds good, looks like a mess’.
She’s Got the Look is a frank and engaging hour that hilariously dissects prejudices and the absurdity of making presumptions about people based on their looks or first impressions (when really we should be judging them on their biscuit preferences). Packed with relatable anecdotes, a detailed account of her Masterchef obsession and jokes about working class cuisine, being curvy and floral glasses, Louise takes on issues of body image, societal expectations and the power of self-acceptance.
Louise Atkinson is a stand-up comedian and chocolate hobnob enthusiast from Hull who regularly performs at leading comedy clubs and festivals all over the UK and co-hosts the ‘Be Fairy Afraid’ podcast alongside Fiona Ridgewell.
In 2023, Louise’s critically acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe debut Mates was awarded the Amused Moose Award for Best Debut Show. Last year Louise also won The 99 Club’s bursary for female and non-binary performers and was nominated for the NextUp Biggest Award in Comedy and shortlisted for the Comedian’s Choice Best Show Award. Following the huge success of the Edfringe run, Louise took Mates out on tour around the UK.
Having started performing in 2017, Louise quickly made a name for herself on the comedy circuit, with her down to earth wit, unique perspective and fantastic hair. Having made the finals of the Amused Moose National New Comic and Harrogate New Comedian and the semi-finals of So You Think You’re Funny? and Leicester Square New Comedian competitions, she continued to build her fanbase opening for Lucy Beaumont, Sarah Keyworth, Esther Manito & Fiona Allen. on tour
