Cheeky. Scottish. Hilarious. Erin’s basically your new bestie.
Returning to Edinburgh Fringe with Deep Heat, Erin McKinnie once again proves why she’s one of Theatre Village’s favourite comedians. After loving her last year, we simply had to see what she had in store this time round – and we weren’t disappointed.
First things first: where were you? If you’ve not seen Erin yet, consider this your nudge from the comedy gods – go book a ticket. She’s sharp, funny, relatable and deserves a packed-out audience every night.
If you’re sitting on the fence thinking “maybe,” here’s your sign: stop hesitating and go. You’ll laugh, you’ll nod in recognition, and you’ll probably leave wanting to be her friend.
This year, Erin brought some fresh material, new perspectives, and – surprise! – a song. Who knew she could sing as well as deliver a punchline? Her show flowed effortlessly, blending stand-up with personal stories and the occasional curveball. There’s something wonderfully unflappable about her – she oozes confidence without ever being brash.
She touches on life working on cruise ships, tells tales of working in care homes, and yes – her Italian boyfriend is still very much part of the set (and her life). Honestly, at this point we’re invested. If she keeps coming back, we’ll be back too – purely for the relationship updates.
Erin’s humour feels like the best kind of train journey chat – familiar, funny, and sneakily insightful. The kind that makes you look up from your phone and grin.
Though Deep Heat is billed as a work-in-progress, don’t let that deter you. Erin’s professionalism shines through – even with a quieter audience, she held the room with warmth, wit and impeccable comic timing. After a chat with her post-show, she was happy for us to rate it – and we’re more than happy to oblige.
This show has huge potential and Erin delivers. Full stop.

Trust us – you’ll leave smiling.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Brilliant Surprise at the Edinburgh Festival!
I went in expecting a Gatling gun of one-liners, but Erin completely flipped the script — and I’m so glad she did. What we got instead was a brilliantly crafted pastiche of stories from her adventures around the world, all delivered with sharp wit and effortless charm.
Let’s just say… I thought I knew what a pineapple was. I do now. 😳🍍
And can we talk about that voice? Understated, almost sneaky in how it creeps up on you — but wow, Erin, you’ve got a serious set of lungs. 🤪
Make sure you stay for the closing number. I’m still crying with laughter. 😂😂😂
