Unmissable Productions at Sheffield Theatres This Autumn And Beyond

As autumn approaches, Sheffield Theatres has an abundance of remarkable performances to offer. From September onwards, esteemed favourites, reinvigorated classics and exhilarating new productions will be gracing the Crucible, Playhouse and Lyceum, perfect for a night of escapism. Starting off in the Lyceum, Life of Pi is back in Sheffield, having opened in the Crucible in 2019. Kicking off its UK and Ireland tour in the Lyceum, Life of Pi tells the remarkable story of Pi’s epic voyage of survival, taking viewers on a captivating journey of courage that lasts from Tuesday 29 August to Saturday 16 September. Featuring Divesh Subaskaran in his professional debut in the lead role, and with awe-inspiring visuals and top-notch puppetry, Life of Pi is an awe-inspiring spectacle that has been commended by The Times and Daily Mail.

Next up in the Playhouse, Calendar Girls the Musical returns with an all-star cast from Tuesday 19 – Saturday 23 September. Following the passing of a beloved husband, a group of ordinary women in a small Yorkshire Women’s Institute join together to create a nude calendar to raise money for charity. Based on the true story of the Calendar Girls, every performance not only provides entertainment but also helps to add to the millions already donated to charity, demonstrating that there’s nothing ordinary about women.

Direct from the West End, The Drifters Girl is coming to the Playhouse from Tuesday 26 – Saturday 30 September. With its incredible soundtrack featuring classics such as Saturday Night At The Movies, Save The Last Dance For Me and Stand By Me, and starring Carly Mercedes Dyer, former star of Six the Musical, as the remarkable Faye Treadwell, The Drifters Girl tells the rollercoaster tale of The Drifters and Treadwell’s journey to success.

In the Crucible, Molière’s witty satire, The Hypochondriac, opens from Saturday 30 September to Saturday 21 October, featuring South Yorkshire’s very own Edward Hogg and Jessica Ransom. Obsessed with his health and money, Argan’s visits to the family physician are numerous and costly. This amusing play reminds us that sometimes it’s best to address what’s real, rather than what we imagine.

Finally, We Could All Be Perfect, the debut play by Doncaster writer and actor Hannah Morley, will be taking over the Playhouse from Saturday 23 September to Saturday 14 October. This furious and funny play follows a group of teenage girls and asks if they are destined to save the world and if they should have to.

Tickets for all productions are on sale now and can be booked through the Box Office in person, over the phone on 0114 249 6000 or at sheffieldtheatres.co.uk
