Somewhere, an enchanting new musical comes to Edinburgh Festival Fringe 12th-17th August 2024. In the lower theatre, theSpace @ Niddry Street. Set in the Kingdom of Bywell, you will be enchanted and captivated by this brand-new musical with music and lyrics by The Dunwells. This magical story tells the tale of Princess Meredith who is cruelly taken from her family one fateful night and the magic of the shattered Somewhere mirror and silver Crown.
Meredith is kidnapped one stormy night by the wicked sorceress Countess Cedar Thirteen who is out for revenge and to claim the jewels that she believes are rightfully hers; The silver mirror and the crown. The main story takes place some 24 years after the fateful night when we see Meredith’s sister and now the Queen of Bywell, ‘Storm’ find herself lost in the forest and stumbling across a number of magical and mystic beings, twists and turns. Expect breathtaking new musical theatre numbers from stunning instrumental dance pieces and Broadway quality ballads to memorable company dance numbers.
There is a heartwarming storyline that will leave you wondering who the hero’s and who the villains really are.. Written and directed by Yorkshire based writer, director and actress Sarah Bishop, the show was created during the testing times of 2020. Sarah had aspired to write a musical since childhood and had only penned small plays for her children’s musical theatre school ‘Cherries Musical Theatre’ prior to Somewhere.
Somewhere was originally produced by Leeds based by ‘By The Play Theatre Productions’ which is a growing amateur dramatic society headed by Sarah Bishop and Will Burns. Somewhere is brought to the stage in Edinburgh by Somewhere Ltd. Bringing the magic to the stage is a talented cast of 15 adults and young people including creator, director Sarah Bishop in the role of Queen Storm and her daughter and assistant director Kimberley Blount taking on the role of Princess Meredith.
