Stunning 2024 Summer and Autumn Season At Birmingham Alexandra

A stunning selection of shows are coming to The Alexandra, Birmingham during summer and autumn 2024. Featuring musicals – including a world-first – family fun, comedy, dance and more, there’s so much to enjoy in the months ahead.

Their annual youth theatre production in August. Stage Experience – The Sound of Music sees the much-loved musical brought to life by an enthusiastic cast aged 9 to 24.

Hot on the heels of a sell-out run last year, they welcome back Pretty Woman The Musical starring Amber Davies and Ore Oduba. Featuring a scorching score from Grammy Award winners Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, this stage adaptation of the hit Hollywood rom-com has proved hugely popular with audiences.

September sees the legendary Dolly Parton’s biggest hits feature in Here You Come Again. Containing gems such as Jolene, 9 to 5, Islands in the Stream and, of course, Here You Come Again, this lively new musical tells the touching story of a diehard fan who learns all about life, love, and a whole lot more from his dreamed-up version of the country and western superstar.

Music, colour and comedy collide in Blue Man Group: Bluevolution World Tour. The UK tour opens here in September and showcases classic Blue Man favourites in a music extravaganza of paint drumming, fun antics, and audience interaction. That’s followed by Lord of the Dance, which returns with a dazzling revival of the spectacular dance show. Due to popular demand an additional performance has just been added to the Birmingham run!

Children and adults alike will love David Walliams – Awful Auntie in October. Based on the best-selling book from the comedian and author, this fabulous stage version tells the hilarious and thrilling story of Stella who wakes up one day to find she’s in the fight of her life against her very own awful Auntie.

Dear Evan Hansen invites us to join socially awkward schoolboy Evan as he navigates his way through life in this brand-new production of the Olivier, Tony and Grammy-award winning coming-of-age musical. Ryan Kopel plays the title role alongside Lauren Conroy as Zoe Murphy and Alice Fearn as Evan’s mum, Heidi.

The world premiere of HERE & NOW – The Steps Musical, co-produced by the band themselves and debuting here in November. Set in a seaside superstore to the sound of iconic hits like 5, 6, 7, 8, Stomp, Better Best Forgotten, Last Thing on My Mind, this heart-warming story of the ups and downs of four friends seeking out their very own summer of love.

Audiences can enjoy an alternative festive treat in December with The Book of Mormon. Laugh out loud funny with insanely catchy music, this outrageous musical comedy follows the misadventures of two mismatched missionaries sent on a far-flung quest to preach their faith.

There is an assortment of one-night only shows including an evening with eighties pop sensation Rick Astley, a journey into the paranormal with Most Haunted: The Stage Show, and comedy from Simon Brodkin, Fern Brady, Ed Gamble and Lucy Beaumont.

In between live stage shows, the Alexandra is offering more entertainment with our regular backstage theatre tours and free lunchtime concerts with music provided by students from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
