Well folks, it’s time to pack up and leave this beautiful city for the lights of home. It’s been fantastic meeting so many people and seeing some truly amazing shows.
It’s been an honour to watch theatre that entertains, challenges, makes you second guess, has you laughing one minute and wiping away a tear the next, that makes you relate, and sometimes makes you think entirely differently. That’s the magic of the Edinburgh Fringe.
There have been some incredibly positive messages from shows this year, and certain quotes will stay with me for a long time. The Fringe is brimming with talent — from the performers to the techies to the front-of-house staff — and every single one of them deserves a huge round of applause.
At this point, Grace wanted to jump in with her reimagined version of Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’ (yes, she’s still in full dramatic mode).
Just a small-town postie,
Livin’ in a made-up world,
Packed my satchel and my sass,
Headed north to see the swirl.
Met a thousand dreamers,
From comedians to clowns,
Now I’m heading home again,
Back to my postal rounds.
Fringe lights, people bright,
Making friends from day to night,
Big laughs, standing ovations —
This postie’s heart takes flight!
And for those asking if Grace is real… well, she’s one of the residents of Theatre Village — but the village itself is entirely fictitious.
After seeing Space Gravy, Grace has also decided she’s adopting a Yorkshire accent. To the people of Yorkshire, we can only apologise… we’ll try our best to shut her down.
’ll be back afore you know it, so keep kettle on an’ save us a biscuit. Ta-ra for now, an’ mind, don’t do owt I wouldn’t do!
Speak to you all soon — tissues in the back pocket, hugs all round.
Andrew.
