A Standing Ovation for Tomorrow’s Stars
This summer, Trafalgar Square won’t just echo with the voices of West End royalty—it’ll ring with the sound of the future. The National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT) is stepping into the spotlight at West End LIVE 2025, the only youth company invited to perform at this landmark 20th anniversary event. And what a moment it promises to be.
Often called “Glastonbury for theatre lovers,” West End LIVE is a highlight of the UK theatre calendar, with thousands gathering to witness the magic of musical theatre—live and free, in the open air. This year’s expanded programme, taking place on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd June, includes a commemorative concert celebrating two decades of top-tier talent. NYMT’s presence on that stage speaks volumes about the standard of its young performers—and their bright futures ahead.
Introducing NYMT’s 2025 Showcase Line-up
At this year’s West End LIVE, NYMT will preview the very best of its 2025 season, with performances spanning solo ballads, energetic ensemble numbers, and rousing duets. The line-up includes:
Fame: The Musical — a vibrant ensemble performance featuring Sophie Abboud, Tochi Arinze, Adam Byrne, Des Coghlan-Forbes, Holly Dack, Amélie Dekker, Jack Edwards, Brooks Finkel, Bessy Hingley, Annabelle Lee, Kyle McAlister, Nia Murray-Gonsalves, Lucas Shirtcliffe, Polly Simons, Kaia Stainton, Iris Wall, Felix Yates, and Maria Zureiqi.
Tuck Everlasting — Chloe Hinxman takes centre stage with a heartfelt solo.
Crescendo — Charlie Carter and Leo Matthaeus perform a powerful duet.
Lightning Boy — a bold and lively number performed by Toby Mocrei and Freddie Tickle.
Carousel — a full company performance featuring a stellar cast including Toby Barton, JJ Chilton, George Clarke, Seán Cosgrove, Sydney Craddock, Bradley Dockerill, Dresden Goodwin, Laurie Jones, Maximus Mawle, Marianna Micallef, Bella Rose, Paula Sarmiento Caceres, Amie Shipley, Jessica Stevens, Hannah Stobart, Rollo Verity, and Josephine Shaw, led by standout soloist Athena Mensah.
Guiding the audience through this thrilling celebration will be presenter Matthias Green, ensuring a showcase that’s not just polished—but unforgettable.
More Than a Moment — A Movement
For Chris Cuming, NYMT’s Artistic Director, this performance marks more than just a stage appearance:
“Bringing the remarkable talent of the National Youth Music Theatre to such an iconic event is a powerful reminder of why NYMT plays a vital role in nurturing the next generation of music theatre performers.”
The West End LIVE performance also kicks off NYMT’s 2025 Summer Season, hosted in Birmingham. With productions of Fame, the UK premiere of Tuck Everlasting, new musical Lightning Boy, and an ambitious site-specific staging of Carousel on a real fairground carousel, this season cements NYMT’s place as a powerhouse of creative innovation and youth talent.
A Festival for the Future
But NYMT’s mission goes beyond the stage. In partnership with Birmingham’s City Academy, they’re launching FairGround, an inclusive new arts festival for children and young people from all backgrounds. With free creative workshops and targeted support for newly arrived young people via the CORE Hello programme, the initiative reflects NYMT’s commitment to accessibility and community impact.
And to back it all up? A record-breaking £50,000 in bursaries for 2025, ensuring that no rising star is held back by circumstance.
From Trafalgar Square to Tomorrow’s Stage
With nearly five decades of experience and a growing national presence, NYMT continues to shape the next generation of British musical theatre. Their appearance at West End LIVE 2025 isn’t just a performance—it’s a powerful statement: the future is already here, and it sounds absolutely spectacular.
West End LIVE is presented by Westminster City Council and the Society of London Theatre, supported by the Mayor of London and partners.
