🎶 MAMMA MIA! She’s off again! 🎶 My My!
By Grace Hatchell, Theatre Village’s island-hopping, glitter-loving gossip girl
Hold onto your flares and pack your passport – because the sunniest show on the planet is back on tour, and guess where it’s jetting off to? That’s right, the sensational MAMMA MIA! will be high-kicking its way into Birmingham Hippodrome from Tuesday 12 to Saturday 30 May 2026, and frankly, I’ve already cleared my diary.
Tickets go on sale for Hippodrome Friends on Thursday 26 June at 11am, and for the rest of us mortals, Friday 27 June at 11am. And yes, I suggest limbering up those fingers now – this one’s going to fly out faster than Donna in a pair of platform boots.
💌 Call 0121 689 3000 or head to www.birminghamhippodrome.com for all the details.
Now, I hear you asking: “Grace, what’s the big deal?”
Well… have you met ABBA?
Have you ever danced like nobody’s watching to Dancing Queen in your kitchen at 2am?
Then this show is your spirit animal.
Created by the genius that is Judy Craymer, MAMMA MIA! is a feel-good whirlwind of love, sequins, questionable paternity, and some of the catchiest pop ever written – all set on a Greek island so gorgeous you’ll want to move there immediately.
The casting’s still under wraps (yes, I’m refreshing my inbox every hour), but whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth, this show always delivers. It’s funny, fabulous, and somehow manages to leave everyone from hen parties to hardened theatre critics wiping tears and singing in the aisles.
✨ Seen by over 70 million people worldwide
✨ Played in 42 countries
✨And somehow, it’s still the dancing queen of musicals – every single time.
So whether you’re a Donna, a Rosie, or a full-blown Tanya with a cocktail in each hand – book early, dance often, and I’ll see you in the stalls, darling. Probably wearing sequins and weeping by Slipping Through My Fingers.
Grace x
P.S. If anyone finds my feather boa from the 2018 tour, please return it. I lost it mid-karaoke at the interval.
