Christmas In Exeter Street At Farnham Maltings

Farnham Maltings is delighted to unveil the cast and creative team for its eagerly anticipated production of “Christmas in Exeter Street.” This enchanting adaptation of Diana Hendry and John Lawrence’s cherished children’s book will grace the stage at Farnham Maltings from Friday 13th to Tuesday 24th December. With an impressive ensemble of 37 characters, 7 animals, and 10 instruments all under one roof, “Christmas in Exeter Street” promises to be the ultimate festive delight.

Maggie Mistletoe takes centre stage as she hosts Christmas with her usual flair. While she expects her regular family members, Christmas Eve brings a delightful surprise as guest after unexpected guest arrives! From the quirky Uncle Bartholomew returning from Australia to Maggie’s five aunts from Abingdon with their trio of Pekinese dogs—where will everyone find room? This production promises brand new songs, abundant humour, and a generous sprinkle of festive magic suitable for anyone aged three and up.

The talented cast includes TRICIA ADELE-TURNER (known for “Stranger Things: The First Shadow,” West End; “Dear Evan Hansen,” West End), PETE ASHMORE (“The Circle,” Theatre Royal Bath/Orange Tree Theatre), FINLAY MCGUIGAN (“The Snow Queen,” Polka Theatre), and OLIVIA WILLIAMSON (“Errol’s Garden,” UK tour). Directed by MAX HUTCHINSON (renowned for works like “Mrs Armitage on Wheels” with Scoot Theatre) with movement direction by CAT GILES (notable for projects such as “White” feature film).

Writer Cordelia O’Neill shares her enthusiasm: “Reading ‘Christmas in Exeter Street’ instantly transports you back to the heartwarming chaos of Christmas. It’s about more than just festive trimmings—it captures people’s openness and Maggie Mistletoe’s boundless generosity.” Director Max Hutchinson adds his excitement: “We’re thrilled to have such an exceptional team this Christmas. Audiences can look forward to catchy tunes, physical comedy, and plenty of magic—all wrapped up in a story brimming with heart!”

This marks Farnham Maltings’ second venture into Christmas productions following their collaboration on “The Christmas Lobster” in 2023. For years, Farnham Maltings has been crafting theatre productions that tour rural communities across the UK- a testament to their dedication to bringing joy through theatre.
