Lazarus Theatre Company is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated return of their calendar for 2025, which has been expertly curated by the talented photographer Charles Flint. This annual calendar not only showcases Flint’s remarkable artistic vision but also serves a noble purpose: it is sold in support of Acting for Others, an organisation dedicated to providing crucial financial and emotional assistance to theatre workers who find themselves in need. This year’s calendar will feature twelve striking images taken by Flint, each one a testament to the vibrant energy and raw emotion captured during Lazarus Theatre’s performances. To engage the public even further, there will be an open voting process allowing fans and patrons to select which iconic shot will grace the front cover.
This interactive element not only fosters community involvement but also highlights the collective spirit that embodies both Lazarus Theatre and its supporters. All proceeds from this initiative will directly benefit Acting for Others, which operates through a well-supported network of fourteen member charities designed to assist theatre professionals across various roles—whether on-stage performers, backstage crew, or those working front of house in countless capacities. Their mission has never been more critical than during these challenging times when many have faced unprecedented hardships. Ricky Dukes, Artistic Director of Lazarus Theatre Company, expressed his enthusiasm about creating this special 2025 calendar aimed at raising funds for such an admirable cause. He remarked candidly that they understand just how vital Acting for Others is—especially in light of the struggles experienced during and after the pandemic. “It’s blooming glorious,” he added with heartfelt sincerity, “to be able to express our gratitude towards them while giving back a little something.”The upcoming calendar promises to highlight memorable moments from recent productions including Doctor Faustus, Hamlet, and The Changeling—all captured within rehearsal rooms and on stages where creativity flourished against all odds.
Beyond just individual grants for those in need, Acting for Others has extended its reach by offering counselling services, benefit advice assistance with nursing home fees for industry veterans, retraining opportunities for actors seeking new paths—all while providing support especially targeted at families through crises exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Sir Stephen Waley-Cohen—Co-Chair of Acting for Others—also shared his appreciation: “Thank you sincerely to Lazarus Theatre Company for their ongoing commitment towards supporting our mission.” He emphasised how all donations from the sale of this calendar would go directly into helping beneficiaries from their member charities during difficult times. Lazarus Theatre Company remains dedicated not only to producing exceptional theatrical work but also nurturing emerging talent within the industry through initiatives like The Ken Pickering Future Directors Scheme; The Gregg Harris Future Producers Scheme; The Engine Room; and The Lazarus Gym. Each programme plays a pivotal role in fostering growth among aspiring artists and creatives alike. Thus, as we approach 2025 with eager anticipation—the Lazarus Calendar emerges as an ideal Christmas gift that supports a vital organisation whilst serving as an excellent tool for planning your theatrical adventures throughout the year ahead!
