Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning duo Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, known for their work on Next to Normal, have announced more exciting casting news for IF/THEN, set to dazzle alongside the incredible Kerry Ellis! The brilliant David Hunter will take on the role of Lucas. Fresh from his acclaimed performances in West End hits like Waitress, Kinky Boots, and The Time Traveller’s Wife, he is sure to bring something special opposite Kerry Ellis. Known for her stunning performances in Wicked, Anything Goes, We Will Rock You, and Les Misérables—not to mention her successful recording career—Ellis will portray Elizabeth. Her character embarks on a journey filled with hope and self-discovery.
The anticipation builds as we await the announcement of who will play Josh in January! Who will it be?
David Hunter shared his excitement: “I remember how thrilled I was when I first heard the cast recording of IF/THEN. It embodies everything I adore about Musical Theatre with its heartfelt music and lyrics. I’m eager to dive into it with this phenomenal cast!” Joining Hunter and Ellis is an extraordinary ensemble featuring Preeya Kalidas (Bombay Dreams), Tim Howar (Rock of Ages), Jenny Fitzpatrick (Oliver), Carl Man (Wicked), Joni Ayton-Kent (Priscilla The Party), along with Christian Maynard (& Juliet) and Kayleigh Thadani (Crazy for You). Also joining are Lauren Hall (Mamma Mia!) and Sario Solomon (Grease).
This marks a thrilling first opportunity for UK audiences to experience this celebrated musical in a staged concert format! Directed by award-winning West End director Bill Buckhurst—with musical staging by Olivier Award nominee Alistair David—and music direction by Michael England—IF/THEN promises an unforgettable experience.
The story follows Elizabeth—a 38-year-old city planner returning to New York after twelve years—to rebuild her life post-divorce. At a crossroads that could lead her down two very different paths—Elizabeth reconnects with old friend Lucas while meeting vibrant new neighbour Kate—and must choose between activism or lighter diversions like coffee or music.
Having opened on Broadway in 2014—and now produced by Adam Blanshay Productions & Daniel Hinchliffe—the show comes alive at London’s Savoy Theatre!
