Síomha Hennessy is set to dazzle audiences with her one-woman comedy cabaret, 30 Under 30, at the Gilded Balloon during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival from July 31 to August 26. Following a highly successful run at the Dublin Fringe Festival, where the show earned rave reviews, Hennessy brings her unique blend of humor and introspection to Edinburgh.
Praised for its “twerking bravura and aching vulnerability” by The Irish Times and described by Paste Magazine as a “complete stand out,” 30 Under 30 explores the humorous and poignant journey of Síomha, who dreams of becoming a teen pop star despite approaching her mid-thirties. The show tackles the question of whether it’s ever too late to achieve one’s dreams and whether success can be found beyond the typical “positive aging role models” campaigns.
West End Best Friend also lauded the performance, calling it “genuinely funny and greatly rewarding.” This cabaret offers a laugh-out-loud exploration for anyone who feels out of step with their peers, promising both hope and humor.
In addition to her engaging performance, Síomha introduces her new single, “This Party,” which audiences can preview online. Her previous cabaret, The Coil’s Lament, received acclaim at both the Edinburgh and Dublin Fringe Festivals in 2023, leading to nominations for the Spirit of Wit Award and an OffFest Award.
Síomha Hennessy, a Dublin-based actor, singer, comedian, and presenter, has had notable stage roles and ventured into stand-up comedy, performing across Dublin’s top comedy venues. Alongside her comedy career, she is a member of the pop duo Sister and will release her debut solo EP, Being Alive is So Embarrassing, in Autumn 2024.
For those looking to enjoy a blend of comedy, music, and insightful reflection, 30 Under 30 is a show not to be missed.
