Tchaikovsky’s iconic ballet Swan Lake will delight Sheffield audiences this new year, coming to the Lyceum from Tuesday 7 – Saturday 11 January 2025.
Swan Lake is one of the world’s most popular ballets; a timeless tale of love and betrayal. Out hunting one night, Prince Siegfried discovers a group of swans who have been placed under a spell by the wicked von Rothbart. One transforms into a young woman, Odette, and captures the Prince’s heart, however she is betrayed when a cruel trick by von Rothbart and his daughter Odile leads Prince Siegfried astray, sealing the fate of the swans.
This UK tour features the performing artists of Mergaliyev Classical Ballet, a company of dancers from around the world, bringing different backgrounds, training and styles that add to the unique vibrancy of their productions. The company perform to Tchaikovsky’s dramatic score by a live orchestra, ensuring an enthralling experience for audiences of all ages.
