Well it was my first and hopefully not last time of attending Edinburgh Fringe as a reviewer. I learnt several things as a reviewer and it was good to network with like-minded individuals, as the Theatre Community is vast and we all have an important role to play. Each show wants to attract an audience and do well. Each audience member doesn’t want to feel their money is wasted. Each reviewer is hoping to find hidden gems. We are all willing each other one, kind of like a circle.
I never used to put stars on my reviews before but I also that’s how shows are measured at Edinburgh Fringe. It gave me thinking time of the importance of stars and how I allocate them.
There are shows which I saw which will stick in my mind forever and some I’ll probably forget about. I did carefully select the shows I wanted to see whilst giving space to be spontaneous. However next time I head to the Fringe, I will plan less and go on a whim to a show.
You can see which shows I gave 5 stars too but it doesn’t mean as an audience member you will experience the same, as no show is the same. I tried though to accurately review each show.
I will be doing further training this year so I am more knowledgeable about certain aspects of performing.
The Edinburgh Fringe has been an absolute delight this year, my pretties. As I reflect on my time as a reviewer, I’m filled with a profound sense of appreciation for the sheer talent and creativity that graces this festival. There were amazing Jewels featured throughout the Fringe.
From the towering performances that felt like a giant on the bridge, to the delightful “faff chronicles” that had me in stitches, this year’s Fringe has been a true feast for the senses. Even the occasional HEADACHE was a small price to pay for the privilege of witnessing such extraordinary artistry.
As the curtain falls on another unforgettable Fringe, I find myself grateful beyond measure for the opportunity to have been a part of this vibrant, ever-evolving cultural landscape. Edinburgh, you’ve outdone yourself once again, and I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next.
( Try to spot the titles of some productions in my text above) 🙂
Take Care
