St Catherine’s School Brings Dis (honest) to Edinburgh Fringe

When you’re constantly reinventing yourself, how do you know who you really are? This intriguing question lies at the heart of “Dis(honest),” a comedy-drama by St Catherine’s School, inspired by the life of confidence trickster Amy Bock. Set to captivate audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, this play explores the nuances of identity and the fine line between deception and self-discovery.

“Dis(honest)” delves into the life of Amy Bock, a notorious figure known for her elaborate cons and deceptions. As the narrative unfolds, the audience is invited to judge the severity of her crimes and, in the process, reflect on their perceptions of honesty and identity. The play raises critical questions: When do we stop pretending? At what point do we become what we say we are?

This originally written comedy-drama takes you on a journey through a series of crimes and deceptions, challenging your understanding of honesty. Inspired by real-life stories, “Dis(honest)” explores issues of identity and motivation, asking whether it’s possible to fake it until you make it without losing all sense of self. As Amy’s cons grow bigger and riskier, the consequences of her actions become increasingly significant, providing a thought-provoking exploration of the human psyche.
