The Second Coming of Joan of Arc performed by the acclaimed UK-based Romanian actor Catinca Maria Nistor is coming to the Edinburgh Fringe. This compelling one-woman show, written by the award-winning playwright Carolyn Gage, will take the stage at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Greenside at Riddle’s Court Venue – Clover Studio, from the 19th to the 23rd of August.

In this modern retelling, Joan of Arc returns to share her story with contemporary women, highlighting the brutal misogyny behind male institutions. Joan, a teenage runaway who led an army to victory, remains one of the most well-documented figures of the 15th Century. Her defiance, intelligence, and faith in her visions resonate with today’s struggles for gender equality.

Catinca Maria Nistor, known for her role alongside Dame Helen Mirren in the film “Golda,” brings a wealth of stage experience from her native Romania. Her past performances include leading roles in “A Doll’s House Part 2,” “Richard III,” “Love’s Labour’s Lost,” “Les Miserables,” and “Footloose.”

Why Should You Attend? Catinca’s portrayal of Joan of Arc is deeply personal, stemming from her own experiences with misogyny and psychological abuse in the Romanian Foreign Cultural Diplomacy sector. This performance is not only a theatrical event but also a platform advocating for women’s rights and gender equality.
