A Jaffa Cake Musical – Just Desserts?
A Jaffa Cake Musical
Time to decide once and for all… Cake or biscuit?
2PM (70 mins), 30 July – 25 August 2025 (not 12 Aug) @ Pleasance Courtyard
Alright, pop the kettle on and brace yourself for a theatrical treat that’s half biscuit, half cake, and wholly ridiculous—in the best possible way. Straight from the giggle-factory that brought us Timpson: The Musical (yes, that Timpson) and Scouts! The Musical, the brilliantly bonkers minds at Gigglemug Theatre are back with a show that’s got more layers than a Viennese whirl.
Inspired by the 1991 tribunal that asked the nation’s most important question—is a Jaffa Cake a biscuit or a cake?—this family-friendly musical comedy promises a jammy centre, a zesty cast, and enough laughs to keep your sides split until teatime. It’s A Jaffa Cake Musical, and trust me, it’s a total snack.
Word in the sorting office is that last year’s Fringe saw this fruity little number sell out faster than you can say “VAT exemption.” And this year, it’s rolling into Bath for two nights of zesty madness before returning to Edinburgh for one final triumphant dunk into the Fringe fondue. If you missed it the first time, now’s your chance to take a bite.
So, is it a cake? Is it a biscuit? Or is it just blooming brilliant musical theatre? Come along and judge for yourself—but I’d bring a napkin. This one could get sticky.
